Phoenix Rising FC has added defender Mohamed Traore on loan from LAFC, the club announced today.
“Traore’s speed, technical ability and versatility allows us to draw up different game plans,” said Rising Head Coach Juan Guerra. “His adaptability opens new structures without sacrificing our identity or style of play. He knows the league. His hunger to work hard and collect achievements match our own. We are thrilled to have him with us.”
Traore, 20, joined LAFC in August of 2020 when the MLS side used the top spot in the MLS Waiver Order to sign the central defender. He appeared in one match for LAFC that season and was loaned to Las Vegas Lights for the 2021-22 seasons. Traore appeared 52 USL Championship matches for Lights FC in the past two seasons, scoring two goals across all competitions.
“My focus this season is to improve,” said Traore. “This team is made up of talented young players that I look forward to growing and having a great season. My expectation is that this season ends with a trophy. For my part, I can help the team play out of the back. I am good at being vocal and organizing. I am a hard worker. My passing is my strong suit.”
Traore moved from Dakar, Senegal to attend Montverde Academy in Orlando, Florida, as a 14-year-old. A three-year honor roll student, he had seven assists, helping Montverde to a 21-4-1 record in his senior season.
Rising will open its seventh season at 38th St/Washington in the City of Phoenix on Saturday, April 1 (7:30 p.m.). Click here to purchase tickets for that match or go to PHXRisingFC.com for more information. Fans can also call or text the club at 623-594-9606 with any questions.
