Phoenix Rising FC has signed midfielder Carlos Harvey from Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy for an undisclosed fee, pending league and federation approval, the club announced today.
“I will give my best to Phoenix Rising,” said Harvey. “I’m a player that will sacrifice and prove myself to the fans with my desire, will and strength. I hope they come watch us give it our all and accomplish our goals. Our objective is to be champions this season.”
Harvey, who turned 23 on February 3, began his career with Tauro FC of the Panamanian first division in October of 2018. He joined LA Galaxy on loan from Tauro ahead of the 2019 season and played 19 matches for LA Galaxy II in the USL Championship that season, scoring two goals. Harvey completed his transfer to the Galaxy in February of 2019 and made 10 MLS appearances for the MLS side in 2020-21.
“Carlos fits with our style of play,” said Phoenix Rising Head Coach Juan Guerra. “His experience in the MLS, USL Championship and at the international level make him a great addition to our squad. His versatility, quality on the ball and athleticism will allow us to use him in different roles within our game model.”
During his time with LA, Harvey added 56 matches of USL Championship experience and six goals to his resume, playing with Los Dos. He has appeared twice for the Panamanian National Team. His first appearance came in a match against the U.S. Men’s National Team at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on January 27, 2019.
