Phoenix Rising FC has transferred defender Joe Farrell to USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds, pending league and federation approval, the club announced today.
The terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
“We’re so thankful for everything Joe did for the club and this community during his time here,” said Rising Head Coach Juan Guerra. “Since his arrival, he played a big role in establishing and continuing the winning culture that brought this club three trophies. We wish him the best of luck in the future. His hard work and the leadership he displayed here will not be forgotten.”
Farrell joined Phoenix Rising in December 2017 and was part of the teams that won Western Conference Titles in 2018 and 2020, along with the Regular Season Title in 2019. He has appeared in 128 matches for Phoenix across all competitions, which ranks second all-time behind only Kevon Lambert (149). Farrell has scored eight goals and five assists.
Prior to joining Phoenix, Farrell appeared 64 USL Championship matches for the Rochester Rhinos in 2016-17. A finalist for Rookie of the Year in 2016, Farrell played 76 matches for La Salle University in Philadelphia prior to turning pro.
