Phoenix Rising FC looks to extend its club-record six-match winning streak when it rolls into Oklahoma City to square up with OKC Energy FC on Saturday night. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 6:00 p.m. and will air on YourPHX CW (channel 6 on cable and 61.1 on satellite & over-the-air). Fans can watch the match at one of two official watch parties at Thirsty Lion in Tempe Marketplace and Three Wisemen in Scottsdale.

The club last played on Tuesday night, a 3-0 win at Reno 1868 FC. Forwards Adam Jahn, Solomon Asante, and Joey Calistri scored and goalkeeper Zac Lubin made five saves en route to his eighth clean sheet of the season. He now sits one clean sheet back of the league leader, Tampa Bay’s John McCarthy.

Energy FC comes into the match unbeaten in its last six matches but has just one win and five draws in that stretch. In its last match, on Saturday, June 15th, OKC Energy held a 1-0 lead into stoppage time, but the visiting San Antonio FC scored an equalizer one minute into stoppage time to steal a point. Phoenix Rising Forward Solomon Asante Earns USL Team of the Week Honorable Mention

PHOENIX (June 18, 2019) — Phoenix Rising forward Solomon Asante was named a USL Team of the Week Honorable Mention for Week 15 of the 2019 USL Championship season the league announced today.

Asante scored a highlight-reel goal in the second half of Rising FC’s 3-0 win over Orange County SC on Saturday night. The forward struck a shot off a volley and found the back of the net from over 30 yards away. The goal was good enough to be No. 10 on ESPN’s Sportscenter that evening.

This is the 10th week this season a Rising FC player has been recognized by the league and the fourth time Asante has received a league honor in 2019 (best on the team).

Phoenix Rising plays in the USL Game of the Week tonight against Reno 1868 FC at Greater Nevada Field. It’s the start of a two-match road swing this week. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and fans can watch it at two official watch parties at the Pig & Pickle in Scottsdale or The Brass Tap in Gilbert. Both locations will also be showing the U.S. Men’s National Team match, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

Phoenix Rising FC welcomes Western Conference rival Orange County SC this Saturday to Casino Arizona Field for a rematch of the 2018 Western Conference Final. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,000 fans who arrive will receive a free PRFC beach towel courtesy of Foothills Sports Medicine Physical Therapy.

Rising FC comes off another successful $1 Beer Night, dispatching Tulsa Roughnecks FC 5-0 on June 7th and extending the club’s record on $1 Beer Night to 11-0-0. In that match, forward Junior Flemmings scored a brace and was joined by forwards Adam Jahn and Solomon Asante and midfielder Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu. Phoenix Rising FC is back home for its second $1 Beer Night of the season as the club squares off against Tulsa Roughnecks FC. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a free black and copper t-shirt courtesy of Arizona Federal.

Rising FC had the week off last week, but the club comes into Friday with a three-match winning streak. The club’s last win came on the road at Real Monarchs. After falling behind 2-0 within the first half hour of the match, Rising FC came back to score four unanswered goals from four different players (Adam Jahn, Jon Bakero, Junior Flemmings, and Solomon Asante) to take three points from the Monarchs. It was the club’s first win at Real Monarchs since 2016.

During the club’s three-match winning streak, the team has outscored opponents 11-3.

The Roughnecks come to Casino Arizona Field off a tough 3-2 loss at home to Austin Bold FC. Despite having a 2-1 lead soon after halftime, the club gave up goals in the 61st minute and in stoppage time to lose the match.

Phoenix Rising FC heads to Utah for a weekend trip sandwiched between four home matches to take on Real Monarchs SLC this Saturday, May 25. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 pm and the club is hosting two official watch parties at R.T. O’Sullivans in Scottsdale and Vine Tavern & Eatery on Elliot Road in Tempe.

Rising FC rolls into Utah having won it’s last two matches by a combined score of 7-1. The latest win was a 4-0 dribbling of Las Vegas Lights FC at Casino Arizona Field on May 18. Four different Rising FC players scored in the match (Kevon Lambert, Solomon Asante, Adam Jahn, and Junior Flemmings) and two of those players (Asante and Flemmings) also notched assists. Asante’s individual performance, his first start after being away from the club for personal reasons, was good enough to land him on the USL Team of the Week. His teammate, Lambert, was also recognized by the league with an Honorable Mention nod.

The Monarchs come in not playing as well in their last five matches (just 1-3-1 in that span). The club fought to a 1-1 draw at OKC Energy FC on May 18. In that match, the club needed a stoppage-time equalizer from Arizona-native Tate Schmitt in order to come away with the point. The team has been much better at home (3-1-1) than on the road (0-3-2) this season but lost its last home match, 4-2, to Fresno FC on May 4.

Phoenix Rising FC is back to USL Championship play Saturday with a matchup against Las Vegas Lights FC at Casino Arizona Field. It’ll be Military Appreciation Night presented by Mobile Mini and the first 2,000 fans who arrive will receive a PRFC camo bucket hat. Kickoff is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m.

The club returns to league play and hopes to continue the success it had in its last regular season match, a 3-1 win over Rio Grande Valley Toros FC. In that match, forward Adam Jahn scored a brace in the first half and James Musa capped off the club’s scoring with a long-range missile in the second half. The brace earned Jahn USL Player of the Week honors.

Las Vegas comes into the match unbeaten in its last three matches, going 2-0-1 in that stretch. The club won its last match, 3-0, over Colorado Springs Switchbacks last Saturday. The club’s leading scorer, Irvin Parra, scored a pair of goals with Samuel Ochoa adding a goal of his own. Goalkeeper Thomas Olsen earned his fifth clean sheet of the season.

Phoenix Rising Begins U.S. Open Cup Run Against New Mexico United

As USL Championship sides enter the U.S. Open Cup in its second round this week, Phoenix Rising FC begins its sixth run in the tournament with a matchup against first-year USL Championship club New Mexico United FC on Wednesday, May 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and gates are scheduled to open at 6:30 p.m.

This will be the second meeting between the two clubs in 2019. The first matchup was during Phoenix Rising’s home opener at Casino Arizona Field on March 16. In that wild 3-3 draw, Rising came back from a goal deficit three separate times for the hard-earned point. Midfielder Solomon Asante notched a brace while forward Jason Johnson added a goal of his own. Former Rising FC forward Kevaughn Frater notched a goal for New Mexico United against his former club.

Phoenix Rising comes off a 3-1 win over Rio Grande Valley last Friday night at Casino Arizona Field. Forward Adam Jahn notched a brace and midfielder James Musa capped off the scoring with a rocket long-distance goal from over 25 yards away.

New Mexico United continues its road trip coming from El Paso and a 2-2 draw against Locomotive FC. The club needed a 79th-minute equalizer from Ryan Williams to come away with a road point.

With a win on Wednesday night, Phoenix Rising would host the winner of Colorado Springs Switchbacks vs. FC Denver in the third round of the tournament on Wednesday, May 29, at Casino Arizona Field.

Not too far from home
Four of PHX's nine USOC matches have been road matches but just two of them have actually been outside of Arizona (Portland, Ore., and Fresno, Calif.). The other two road matches took place in Tucson and Chandler.

Plenty of goal scorers
PHX has scored 16 goals in USOC play and they have been scored by 15 different goal scorers. The only PHX player to have more than one goal scored is former forward Long Tan. He scored two goals against FC Tucson on May 19, 2016. No player on the current PHX roster has scored a USOC goal for the club.

Better late than never
Of PHX's 16 goals in USOC play, the team has scored ten of them in the second half. Of those ten goals, six of them have been scored in the 80th minute or later.

Scoring for other teams
Just one player on the current PHX roster has even scored a goal in USOC play. Forward Adam Jahn scored a 114th-minute equalizer for the Columbus Crew in the fourth round of the tournament last season. Jahn also converted his penalty kick but the Crew eventually lost to the Chicago Fire in pens, 12-11.

This feels familiar
Head coach Rick Schantz and midfielder Jon Bakero have previous experience working together in the U.S. Open Cup. In 2016, Bakero played under Schantz with then-USL League Two side FC Tucson during the club's Open Cup run. Bakero started both matches of the team's run. TUC won its first-round match, 3-0, before falling 5-0 in the second round to Arizona United.

USL Championship showdown
This will be just the third time in the club's USOC history that PHX plays a fellow USL Championship side. The team is 1-1-0 in those previous matches, eliminating OKC Energy FC in 2014 and being eliminated by COS Switchbacks FC in 2016.

Pros causing trouble

With a win on Wednesday night, Phoenix Rising would host the winner of Colorado Springs Switchbacks vs. FC Denver in the third round of the tournament on Wednesday, May 29, at Casino Arizona Field.

Not too far from home
Four of PHX’s nine USOC matches have been road matches but just two of them have actually been outside of Arizona (Portland, Ore., and Fresno, Calif.). The other two road matches took place in Tucson and Chandler.

Better late than never
Of PHX’s 16 goals in USOC play, the team has scored ten of them in the second half. Of those ten goals, six of them have been scored in the 80th minute or later.

This feels familiar
Head coach Rick Schantz and midfielder Jon Bakero have previous experience working together in the U.S. Open Cup. In 2016, Bakero played under Schantz with then-USL League Two side FC Tucson during the club’s Open Cup run. Bakero started both matches of the team’s run. TUC won its first-round match, 3-0, before falling 5-0 in the second round to Arizona United.

USL Championship showdown
This will be just the third time in the club’s USOC history that PHX plays a fellow USL Championship side. The team is 1-1-0 in those previous matches, eliminating OKC Energy FC in 2014 and being eliminated by COS Switchbacks FC in 2016.

Phoenix Rising FC heads into its first Copper State Friday of 2019 to take on Rio Grande Valley Toros FC this Friday at 7:30 p.m. The match is also a Bud Light $1 Beer Night and the first 3,000 fans who arrive will receive a copper and black Phoenix Rising flag courtesy of Carvana. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.

The team has been very successful on $1 Beer Nights, going 9-0-0, including two playoff wins last season.

Last Saturday, Phoenix Rising fell on the road, 2-1, to Orange County FC in a rematch of the 2018 Western Conference Championship. Forward Adam Jahn, off a free kick from midfielder Jon Bakero, scored the team’s lone goal.

Rio Grande Valley comes into the match riding a five-match unbeaten streak going 3-0-2 in that stretch. Last week the club went to Portland and picked up 2-1 win over Portland Timbers 2 powered by goals from Wilmer Cabrera and Modou Jadama.

Phoenix Rising FC returns to Orange County for the first time since the club won the USL Western Conference title at Championship Soccer Stadium in OC Great Park. It’s also the first time both clubs will meet in 2019. Rising FC fans can watch the match at the club’s official watch party at Thirsty Lion in San Tan Village. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

This match will be the last of a quick two-match road trip in California. Rising FC traveled to Sacramento last week and battled to a 0-0 draw against Sacramento Republic. The match marked the fourth clean sheet in five starts for Goalkeeper Zac Lubin. Earlier this week, Lubin was nominated for USL Player of the Month for the month of April thanks to the four clean sheets, 13 saves and 92.9 save percentage.

Orange County comes off a 2-2 draw against Fresno FC last Friday night. In that match, Orange County held a 2-0 lead for much of the match but gave up two goals late to settle for the road point.
