Phoenix Rising traveled to Sin City and left with all three points, taking down Las Vegas Lights FC by a score of 1-0 on May 28 at Cashman Field. Following the match, Head Coach Pa-Modou Kah and midfielder Noble Okello discussed the team’s growing momentum, keeping another clean sheet and more.
Head Coach Pa-Modou Kah
General thoughts on the match…
“Sometimes it’s good to win ugly.”
On the defense’s performance…
“We kept a clean sheet. I’m very happy for the group”
On the decision to replace Ihsan Sacko with Mo Traore in the second half…
“10-day layoff.”
On picking up a third win after a long layoff…
“It’s tough when you have a layoff of 10 days and you’re already in rhythm. Being able to get out with a win and a great penalty save from (Rakovsky), that just shows the confidence the team has at this moment, but we know we can play better.”
On the feeling within the team…
“It builds confidence. For the group dynamic, it’s great to see that all their hard work is paying off. For us, we want to continue getting better. We’re happy, but we’re not satisfied.”
Midfielder Noble Okello
On his overall thoughts on the match…
“I think it was a good game. We played well. Even though it was tough playing away from home, we got the job done and we’ll take the three points and build on this momentum.”
On the feeling within the squad after three straight wins…
“We definitely want to use the momentum, build on it and go forward. Right now we’re gaining confidence and it’s a good opportunity for everyone to keep this attitude going into the games ahead.”
On the feeling after Patrick Rakovsky saved the late penalty kick …
“(Rakovsky) has been in amazing form ever since we started the season. He deserved it again and we thank him for saving us once again. We appreciate what he does for this team.”
