Phoenix Rising FC finishes its three-match homestand against Western Conference rival Sacramento Republic this Friday, August 23, at Casino Arizona Field. It’ll be the club’s last $1 Beer Night until the season finale on Friday, October 18th. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will air on YourPHX CW (channel 6 on cable and 61.1 on satellite & over-the-air) as well as ArizonaSports.com.
Rising FC comes into the match after winning its 14th consecutive match in a 4-2 win over Reno 1868 FC on $1 Beer Night. Captain Solomon Asante led the club with a brace while Mustapha Dumbuya scored his first goal of the season and Junior Flemmings notched his 10th goal of the year. Asante’s two goals made him the club’s career goals leader with 32, surpassing the previous record holder Chris Cortez (31).
In addition to extending its winning streak to 14 matches, the club also extended its home unbeaten streak and its Casino Arizona Field sellout streak to 15 matches.
Sacramento Republic FC has been in good form recently, losing just one of its last five matches. The club blew the doors off Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 4-0 last week. New signee Thomas Enevoldsen notched a brace while Jamie Villareal and Cam Iwasa each scored a goal.
The pair of clubs last met in Sacramento on April 27th earlier this season and finished in a 0-0 deadlock. Two weeks later, Rising FC began its current winning streak.
