(PHOENIX) June 13, 2017 – Phoenix Rising FC defender Amadou Dia was named to the United Soccer League Team of the Week for Week 12. Dia becomes the fourth player this season to receive the honor. Midfielder Luke Rooney had been named to the Team of the Week twice, in Week 3 and Week 5. Shaun Wright-Phillips was named to the Team of the Week in Week 8. Jason Johnson was on the Team of the Week in Week 10. Forward Didier Drogba received honorable mention.
Dia was strong defensively up and down the left flank in his Phoenix Rising FC debut and provided the assist
in the match’s opening goal during the club’s 2-1 win over Whitecaps FC 2 on Saturday. Drogba scored that opening goal and provided an assist on the game-winning tally.
Phoenix Rising FC is back on the road this Sunday, June 18, against Swope Park Rangers.
