(PHOENIX) September 7, 2017 – Phoenix Rising Football Club has added goalkeeper John Berner on loan from the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. Colorado retains the right to recall Berner at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
Berner, 26, has been a member of the Colorado Rapids since 2014 when he was the 35th overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft. He has appeared in 5 MLS games, all in 2014, recording 2 shutouts with a 1.20 Goals Against Average. Prior to his professional career, Berner was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year while he attended SIU-Edwardsville.
With the addition of Berner, the club now has 28 players on its roster. Berner will be eligible for selection Saturday night when Phoenix Rising FC travels to Colorado Springs.
