PHOENIX (April 27, 2019) — Phoenix Rising FC battled to a 0-0 stalemate on the road against Western Conference foe Sacramento Republic FC. Goalkeeper Zac Lubin earned his fourth clean sheet in five starts and has only conceded one goal in those five starts.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Phoenix Rising finishes April with a 2-1-2 record.
- This marks just the third time in eight matches the club has not scored a goal.
- This marks to second time this season goalkeeper Zac Lubin has had back-to-back clean sheets.
Lubin’s biggest save came in the 69th minute. Sacramento’s Kevon Aleman got into space on the right side of the box with the ball and fired a left-footed shot toward the goalkeeper. But Lubin hit the ground quickly and the ball burrowed into his stomach to end the scoring threat.

Midfielder Jose Aguinaga got to the end of a curling cross into the box from Solomon Asante and headed the ball on target but it was punched away by former Rising goalkeeper Josh Cohen. Then in the 41st minute, Junior Flemmings tried picking out the top left corner from the top of the box. But Cohen was there to deny a goal again, this time diving to his right to make the save of the night.
