
PHOENIX (November 14, 2019) —Phoenix Rising Football Club announced today that defender Joe Farrell will be returning to the club for the 2020 season pending league approval. Per club policy, the terms of the contract will not be made public.
“I’m excited to bring Joey back to Phoenix Rising,” said Phoenix Rising head coach Rick Schantz. “His character, commitment, loyalty, and desire to compete are top quality. Not only is he a great person but a great defender. He is strong in challenges and gives our team the steel needed to win in the USL. He will no doubt help keep Phoenix Rising at the top.”
During the 2019 campaign, Farrell appeared in 26 matches and started 21 of them (1,891 minutes). He scored two goals while tallying one assist and six key passes. Defensively he led the team in clearances (91) and was third on the team in areal duels won (77). In his two seasons with the club he’s scored a total of six goals. In 2018, Farrell started for Rising FC in the USL Championship Final.
With the addition of Farrell, the club has 12 players, all returners, officially signed for the 2020 season.
