
PHOENIX (September 4, 2018) — Phoenix Rising FC can move into a tie for first place in the Western Conference on Wednesday when it hosts Rio Grande Valley FC Toros at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and fans can watch locally on Yurview Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 in Phoenix and 7&1007 in Tucson. They can also stream the match on ESPN3. The match will also be simulcast live on the radio on El Patron 93.7 FM (Spanish language).
Phoenix Rising FC (15-6-5) has been rolling of late, winners of its last three and four of its last five. The club has picked up consecutive 4-0 victories for the first time in its history with triumphs over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and San Antonio FC in the span of four days late last month and is in the midst of a three-game clean sheet streak as well.
Phoenix Rising has already set a new club record for goals in a season with 53 after scoring four against Colorado Springs last time out, eclipsing the previous high mark of 50 set last season. The team, which currently has 53 points, is closing in on its record for most points in a season, which is 58, also set in 2017.
Rising FC began the week in third place in the Western Conference, 11 points clear of the playoff cut line. PRFC trails second-place Orange County SC by one point and Conference leader Real Monarch SLC by three but has games-in-hand over each of them.
Rio Grande Valley FC Toros are far down the standings, currently in 15th place with 24 points. The team boasts one of the better defenses in league, having conceded just 32 goals thus far but has struggled to score and has drawn a league-high 12 matches.
Wednesday will be the second meeting between the two clubs this year, after they drew 0-0 in South Texas earlier in the campaign, and the fifth all-time. PRFC owns the lone victory in the series. The other three matches have all been draws.
