Assistant coach Danny Stone joined Phoenix Rising FC on March 9, 2021.
“I couldn’t be more excited about adding Danny to our staff,” said Phoenix Rising head coach Rick Schantz. “His knowledge of our youth teams will help the club take another step towards assimilation between academy and first team. His experience will help our team tremendously.”
Originally from Liverpool, England, Stone spent time with Blackburn Rovers FC and Notts County FC before transitioning to a coaching career with the Colorado Rapids in 2010. He worked to build the Rapids Alliance program, establishing a strong youth academy structure for the MLS club. Stone served as a first team assistant coach with the Rapids from 2015 to 2018 and spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with Oklahoma City Energy FC in the USL Championship. He holds a USSF ‘A’ license.
“I look forward to contributing to an already excellent group of players and club staff,” said Stone. “I’ll work with Rick and Cory [Robertson] in all aspects of the training program, match-day preparation and coaching of the team. I’ll be heavily involved in planning training sessions and the analysis of our team and opponents. My goal is to continue the hard work, further improve Rising’s players and add to the overall environment at Phoenix Rising FC.”
