
PHOENIX (June 11, 2018) — Phoenix Rising FC returns home to open a two-game homestand this Wednesday when it faces Las Vegas Lights FC at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
Interim Head Coach Rick Schantz will lead the club from the sidelines following the news that head coach Patrice Carteron has left Phoenix Rising for the same position Egyptian side Al Ahly SC.
Phoenix Rising FC (7-3-4) will have a quick turnaround after drawing 0-0 in Sacramento against Republic FC last Saturday. PRFC recorded their fourth clean sheet of the season in that match.
The point in Sacramento kept Phoenix Rising in front of Sacramento in the Western Conference standings, but the club was leapfrogged by Portland Timbers 2. With 25 points, PRFC enters Week 14 of the season in third place in the West.
PRFC is off to its best start to a season in club history with 25 points in 14 matches, shattering the previous record for most points through 14 games (19 points, done in 2015 and 2017). PRFC also leads all of USL in goals scored (26), is second in shots attempted (220) and is third in the Western Conference in goal differential (+11).
Las Vegas Lights FC (3-4-4) is in its first season as an expansion club in the USL. The club was victorious in its last match, a 4-1 win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, but had lost the three games prior. Forward Carlos Alvarez leads Las Vegas with four goals this season, the only player on its roster with more than two tallies. This will mark the first ever matchup between Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Fans can watch locally on Yurview Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 in Phoenix and 7&1007 in Tucson. They can also stream the match on ESPN+. The match will also be simulcast live on the radio on El Patron 93.7 FM (Spanish language) and Fox Sports 910 AM (English).
