Phoenix Rising FC heads into its first Copper State Friday of 2019 to take on Rio Grande Valley Toros FC this Friday at 7:30 p.m. The match is also a Bud Light $1 Beer Night and the first 3,000 fans who arrive will receive a copper and black Phoenix Rising flag courtesy of Carvana. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
The team has been very successful on $1 Beer Nights, going 9-0-0, including two playoff wins last season.
Last Saturday, Phoenix Rising fell on the road, 2-1, to Orange County FC in a rematch of the 2018 Western Conference Championship. Forward Adam Jahn, off a free kick from midfielder Jon Bakero, scored the team’s lone goal.
Rio Grande Valley comes into the match riding a five-match unbeaten streak going 3-0-2 in that stretch. Last week the club went to Portland and picked up 2-1 win over Portland Timbers 2 powered by goals from Wilmer Cabrera and Modou Jadama.
