Phoenix Rising Head Coach Pa-Modou Kah:
On his thoughts on the match…
“I think we could’ve been much better, there were glimpses but it was not good enough. We have to get better.”
On the youth development from the cup games…
“The youth development has been great from these cup games, that’s why you have these kind of cup games to give these minutes to the guys that need it because we’re going to need them for the remainder of the season and so these games are very important for them to get their games in and get their rhythm in.“
On Gunnar impact scored in past two matches…
“Gunnar is working step by step, day by day and that’s what you want.”
On back to league play…
“We are looking forward to it, just like in life, you’re going to go through adversities but right now the most important thing is that we stay together as a team, football changes quickly so it’s about staying calm, working, and step by step going in the direction we need to be.”
Phoenix Rising Forward Gunnar Studenhofft
On his thoughts on the match…
“We started slow in the first half, we weren’t creating enough opportunities and we were playing into the opponents’ game a bit more than we had planned. But in the second half we decided to pick up the momentum, drive forward at the goal, get a chance off of a bit of pressure from the youngster Jaethan Irwin and I was able to capitalize on it but overall, it just needs to get better from the whole team and we just keep going next game.”
On going into the next league game at home…
“Win. We just need to win.”
On the return of Arase and Badji…
“They’re all just getting back into the rhythm of things, I feel like they had good moments tonight. It’s a game about patience, we trust them and know their quality. We’re not pressuring them to come back right away and make a strong impact yet, so we just stick together as a team and do what we need to do.”
