Phoenix Rising completed its three-match road trip in California’s capital city, falling 2-0 to Sacramento Republic FC on April 4 at Heart Health Park. HEAD COACH PA-MODOU KAH
On his thoughts on the match…
“We lost the game on both boxes.”
On how he would summarize the last three matches…
“This match is a little bit of a stinker, but if you look at the road trip and what the team has done I think the boys showed a lot of character and heart. Obviously, we hoped we could have had a better game today. Opportunities were there for us to take, and we didn’t take them.
On moving forward from the result ahead of an important rivalry match next weekend…
“It’s a derby game (against New Mexico) and we have to be ready to go.”
DEFENDER LUKE BIASI
On his thoughts on the match…
“We just came out a little flat-footed. I thought we turned it around, but I think that has kind of been the story of our season so far. It’s important for us to not put our heads down and know that the game was there for us as well. We had just as many chances as (Sacramento) and it shouldn’t take us two goals to wake up and come at them. We’re disappointed, but you can see it’s there as well.”
On how he would summarize the last three matches…
“It has been a tough week for all of us. Heavy legs, lot of travel. To come out of Tulsa, travel to Orange County and move on in the U.S. Open Cup, that’s good. We keep moving in that (tournament) and now we have to turn it to league play. It’s a long season. We just need to get some momentum going and not put our heads down, because we know that we can easily turn this around.”
On moving forward from the result ahead of an important rivalry match next weekend…
“We watch the game back, talk about our mistakes, and then on Tuesday it’s gone. We have a new matchup next Saturday and we have to focus on what we’re going to do for that game tactically, physically and mentally. You have to get out of the lows and not hang onto the highs.”
