Phoenix Rising FC (3-4-3) earned a point on the road at hostile Keyworth Stadium, today, finishing 1-1 vs. Detroit City FC (5-1-2).

Giulio Doratiotto found the back of the net for the second match in a row for Phoenix. He was assisted on the goal by Emil Cuello. Rising returns to Phoenix next Saturday, May 18 to face Miami FC at 7:30 p.m.

Stenberg broke through for Rising in the 71^st minute after a corner kick was hammered back into the box by Zambrano. The loose ball fell to Stenberg and the Captain hammered a shot into the top corner of the goal from close range to give Phoenix the 1-0 win.

Phoenix Rising defender John Stenberg fell ill just before the team took to the pitch in the USL Championship Final. Despite only practicing once in the week leading up to the game, he scored the game-tying goal at the last minute, ultimately helping Rising capture its first championship. It marked the beginning of a long journey for Stenberg, who was diagnosed with Valley Fever and had to recover indoors before returning to captain the 2024 squad. This is his story.
