PHOENIX, AZ (March 31, 2017) – Phoenix Rising Football Club (0-1-0) heads on its first road trip of the season to Utah to square off with Real Monarchs SLC (1-0-0) on Saturday, April 8, at 3 p.m.

The road trip comes on the heels of Phoenix Rising FC’s historic home opener on March 25. An all-time club record 6,890 fans watched as Phoenix Rising FC fell to Toronto FC II, 1-0. The match marked the opening of the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex, the first soccer-specific stadium in the club’s four-year history.
Real Monarchs SLC are coming off a road win to begin their 2017 campaign. Behind goals from midfielders James Moberg and Nick Besler, the Monarchs downed Portland Timbers 2, 2-1. Midfielder Charlie Adams notched the assist for both goals.
This will be the eighth meetup between the two clubs. In two previous seasons, Phoenix Rising FC is 4-3-0. The teams aren’t just evenly matched in terms of records. The matches themselves have been very close with six of the seven matches decided by one goal. The only time a contest was decided by more than a goal came on July 22, 2016, a 3-0 win for Phoenix Rising FC.
