Sacko, Arase, Gómez find back of net in Western Conference showdown
Phoenix Rising heads into its Mental Health break off a 4-3 defeat to Oakland Roots SC at Phoenix Rising Stadium. Rising scored three second-half goals, but it wasn’t enough to match the high-scoring Roots.
Following the match, Head Coach Pa-Modou Kah and forward Kelvin Arase discussed the performance, heading into the break and preparing for the second half of the season.
HEAD COACH PA-MODOU KAH
On his thoughts on the match…
“I think we started the game very slow. We were sloppy from start to finish.”
On the comeback goals…
“We knew we could come back, but then we made silly mistakes that cost us.”
On the message of the mental health day…
“We have five days to recover and take a moment to reset and come back.”
FORWARD KELVIN ARASE
On his thoughts on the match coming back from injury…
“Grateful to finally get fit and hopefully help the team. I have mixed feelings about how I feel because we lost, but I’m happy to have scored for the team.”
On starting games from behind…
“Sometimes we just start sloppy…then once we concede a goal, we start truly playing football, but it should be the other way around, and we’re trying to start better every game.”
On coming back after the mental health break…
“Obviously there are videos, and we are going to check every detail where we are still lacking. We have to continue to practice game control better and keep working, and hopefully our next game is a win.”
