PHOENIX (August 27, 2026) – Phoenix Rising FC signs Forward JuanDavid Torres on loan from Charleston Battery, pending league and federation approval and pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
The 25-year-old joins Rising following two standout seasons with Charleston Battery, where he emerged as one of the USL Championship’s most creative and dangerous attacking players.
“It’s a very big team that I had already seen here in the league, and I’m very happy to play here, be with my teammates, and put Phoenix where it deserves to be,” Torres said.
Torres totaled 12 goals and 17 assists in 60 appearances across all competitions during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He earned USL Championship All-League First Team honors in 2025 after recording four goals and 10 assists, with his assist total tied for second-most in the league. He also ranked second in the Championship with 61 chances created.
In his first season with Charleston in 2024, Torres made an immediate impact, scoring eight goals and adding a team-high seven assists in 36 appearances across all competitions. He led the USL Championship with six goals scored from outside the box and became known for his technical ability, creativity and ability to create opportunities in the attacking third.
The Barranquilla, Colombia native developed through the academies of Banfield, Corinthians and Millonarios F.C. before beginning his career in the United States. He also made eight first-team appearances for Millonarios during the 2023 campaign and was part of the club’s Categoría Primera A Apertura title-winning side. Torres was also selected to Colombia’s U-20 National Team in 2019.
“I hope to help the team with my style of play, my goals, and my assists, and help Phoenix get to the playoffs and win a title,” Torres said.
