
PHOENIX (September 28, 2018) — Phoenix Rising FC can clinch home-field advantage for at least the first round of the USL Playoffs with a win this Saturday against Saint Louis FC. The match kicks off at 7:30pm, and fans can watch locally on Yurview Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 in Phoenix and 7&1007 in Tucson. Fans can also stream the match nationwide on ESPN+. The match will also be live on the radio on El Patron 93.7 FM (Spanish language).
Phoenix Rising FC (18-7-5) returns home to Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex this weekend, where the club has won three straight games. They enter Saturday’s match just four points behind first-place Orange County SC in the Western Conference standings, with two matches in hand.
Forward Chris Cortez could make history this weekend for Phoenix Rising FC. He is just one goal shy of tying the club’s all-time goal record, currently held by Long Tan. Cortez also finds himself in the middle of the Golden Boot race, as 16 of his 28 career Rising FC goals have come this season. His 16 goals rank as the fourth highest total in the USL.
Saint Louis FC is currently 8th in the Western Conference with 49 points and currently hold the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The team is unbeaten in their last four games, including wins in each of their last two. They’re coming off a 2-0 win last weekend at home against San Antonio FC.
Saturday will be the second meeting this season between Phoenix and Saint Louis FC. Rising FC won the previous matchup, 3-1, on the road in May. It is only the third time in club history that these two teams will matchup against one another. Phoenix Rising FC have won the previous two, including a win at home in 2016.
The first 2,500 fans on Saturday will get a free PRFC rally towel, courtesy of Mayo Clinic. Fans are also invited to bring a new stuffed animal with them to the game on Saturday to participate in a pre-game teddy bear toss. The teddy bear toss will be at 7pm at the soccer cage, and fans who donate a stuffed animal will receive a Phoenix Rising bag. Donations will support E3-AZ Foundation.
