PHOENIX (August 16, 2018) — Phoenix Rising FC is back on the road this week as the club makes its maiden visit to Las Vegas to face Las Vegas Lights FC. The match kicks off at 8:00 p.m. and fans can watch locally on Yurview Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 in Phoenix and 7&1007 in Tucson. They can also stream the match on ESPN+. The match will also be simulcast live on the radio on El Patron 93.7 FM (Spanish language) and Fox Sports 910 AM (English).
Phoenix Rising FC (12-6-5) is in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race even after suffering a home defeat to Orange County SC last weekend. The club enters Saturday’s match in fourth-place in the conference standings with 41 points.
Saturday’s match will mark PRFC’s first trip to Las Vegas, an expansion club playing its first USL season this year. With a win in Sin City, Rising FC could climb as high as third in the West and move within three points of conference leaders Real Monarchs SLC.
Phoenix Rising is closing in on a couple milestones this year. PRFC’s 41 points accrued this season is already the second-highest total in club history and the team still has 11 matches left to reach the high-water mark of 58 points set last season. Rising FC, which has scored 43 goals this season, is also just seven goals shy of tying the club record for most goals in a season, also set last year, at 50.
Last week, midfielder Solomon Asante netted a hat trick in the team’s 4-3 defeat to Orange County, giving him ten goals on the season. Only forward Chris Cortez (11 goals) has more on the squad. The club’s single-season goals record is 14.
Las Vegas Lights FC enter Saturday’s match on a two-game losing streak and with defeats in three of its past four matches overall. It sits in 13th place at the moment, languishing eight points below the playoff cut line.
Saturday will be the second meeting between the two clubs this year. Rising FC defeated Las Vegas 4-0 at home in June.
