
PHOENIX (October 5, 2018) – Phoenix Rising FC can clinch a top-2 seed in the Western Conference with a win tomorrow night at home against Reno 1868 FC. The match kicks off at 7:30pm, and fans can watch locally on Yurview Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 in Phoenix and 7&1007 in Tucson. Fans can also stream the match nationwide on ESPN+. The match will also be live on the radio on El Patron 93.7 FM (Spanish language).
Phoenix Rising FC (19-7-5) enters Saturday’s match having won four straight home games, and three straight games overall. Their winning form has kept them in the race for the top spot in the Western Conference. They come into this weekend in second place, trailing Orange County SC by one point with a match in hand.
A week after tying the all-time club goal-scoring record from a free kick, Chris Cortez has another chance at history this weekend. His next goal will be his 30th for Phoenix Rising FC, surpassing the previous high-mark of 29 goals, held by Long Tan. Cortez is also tied for third in the USL Golden Boot race with 17 goals this season.
Reno 1868 FC is currently 5th in the Western Conference with 55 points. They’re unbeaten in their last five games and have won three straight coming into the weekend. On Wednesday, Reno 1868 FC won 2-0 on the road against Portland Timbers 2 in route to clinching a playoff spot.
Saturday will be the second meeting this season between Phoenix and Reno 1868 FC. Rising FC won the previous matchup, 1-0, on the road in March. Saturday will be the fourth time these two teams meet in club history. The all-time series has been split 1-1-1.
