
PHOENIX (May 8, 2018) — Phoenix Rising FC embarks on a two-game road trip this week, beginning with a trip to Oklahoma City to face OKC Energy FC on Wednesday. The match kicks off at 5:00 p.m. and fans can watch the match locally on Yurview Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 in Phoenix and 7&1007 in Tucson. They can also stream the match on ESPN+. The match will also be simulcast live on the radio on El Patron 93.7 FM (Spanish language) and Fox Sports 910 AM (English).
Phoenix Rising FC (4-1-2) hits the road after finishing an unbeaten three-game homestand with a dramatic second-half comeback in a 4-3 win over Los Angeles Galaxy II last Friday. Down 3-1 at halftime, Rising FC scored three goals from Alessandro Riggi, Jason Johnson (his second of the game) and Didier Drogba to complete the come-from-behind victory.
Johnson was awarded USL Team of the Week honors for his brace against Los Dos while Drogba was named a Team of the Week honorable mention. It is the seventh time in eight weeks this season that a PRFC player has earned Team of the Week honors.
The club's 15 points in eight matches is a record start for Phoenix Rising. The previous record was 13 points set in 2015. For the fourth straight week, the team stayed in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
OKC Energy FC (1-7-0) has struggled since opening its season with a win. Energy FC has lost seven matches in a row since and hasn’t scored a goal since a 2-1 defeat to Fresno FC on March 31. The team has been shutout in each of its last four matches.
This will be the 11th time the two teams have ever met. The previous ten games have been split 4-4-2. It is the second time this season the teams will meet, after Rising FC defeated OKC Energy FC at home on March 24, 4-1.
Phoenix Rising will be hosting to watch parties locally for fans to watch the match. They will be hosted at the Dave & Buster’s (Tempe Marketplace) and at the Puro Cigar Bar (111 W. Boston St., Chandler, AZ)
