PHOENIX (May 8, 2018) — Phoenix Rising forward Jason Johnson was named to the United Soccer League Team of the Week for Week 8 of the 2018 USL season. Johnson scored a brace in Phoenix Rising’s thrilling 4-3 win over LA Galaxy II last Friday. Teammate Didier Drogba was named a Team of the Week Honorable Mention for his assist and game-winning goal from the penalty spot. This is the seventh week out of eight that a Phoenix Rising FC player has been recognized by the league. This is the first time this season Johnson has been recognized by the league and is the second time this season Drogba has been an Honorable Mention.
Phoenix Rising begins a two-match Oklahoma road trip Wednesday at OKC Energy FC. The match kicks off at 5 p.m. Fans can head over to one of two official team watch parties being held at the Dave & Buster’s in Tempe Marketplace or at Puro Cigar Bar in Chandler (111 W. Boston St.).
