
PHOENIX (December 25, 2018) — Phoenix Rising Football Club announced today it had signed defender A.J. Cochran for the 2019 season pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be made public.
“I am extremely excited to be a part of such an amazing organization and help bring more trophies to the club and Phoenix Rising fans,” Cochran said.
Cochran spent his 2018 with USL Championship side Atlanta United 2. He played 2,697 minutes in 30 appearances and led the club in blocks, tackles won, duels won, and aerial duels won. He also notched 17 key passes and two assists in attack. Cochran served as the captain for the club in their inaugural season.
The defender’s professional career began after he was the 16th overall selection in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Houston Dynamo. He made his professional debut on April 5, 2014. After spending the 2014 and 2015 seasons with the Dynamo, Cochran spent his next two professional seasons (2016 and 2017) with USL Championship side Saint Louis FC.
With the addition of Cochran, Phoenix Rising’s roster now stands at 18 players for the 2019 season.
