Club statement regarding fraudulent Craigslist post:
"A situation has come to our attention that could be hurtful to area Phoenix Rising FC soccer fans, and professional soccer in general. A fraudulent ad was posted on Craigslist and maliciously sourced to Phoenix Rising Football Club. The ad offers payment of $35 to attend the inaugural home game at the team’s new stadium site on Saturday, March 25, 7:30 p.m. This job posting is a hoax. We are very concerned that area soccer fans not fall victim to this fraudulent activity.
We are so appreciative of the thousands of Phoenix Rising FC fans who have purchased tickets to our inaugural season opener and we are prepared to deliver an optimal opening game day experience. There are only about 1,000 tickets left, thanks to the enthusiasm of the local soccer community. Official tickets for Phoenix Rising FC can only be purchased at www.phxrising.com via our official ticket partner Ticketmaster."
A statement from Phoenix Rising FC Club Governor Berke Bakay:
"To our passionate fans:
It has come to our attention that someone has tried to take the Phoenix Rising FC name and harm it by preying on local soccer fans with promises of paying them to attend our matches this season through Craigslist. This is not and has never been a policy of Phoenix Rising FC. We believe that Phoenix is one of the best markets for soccer in the United States, and we know that in a market as exuberant as this, there is no need to go out and pay fans to attend matches.
That would be disrespectful to the fans who have been with us from the very beginning and to the new fans who will get to know us in 2017. The relationship between soccer clubs and their fans is the most special bond in all of sports. We respect that relationship and would never think to do something to break the trust we’ve built with you.
We’re excited to be opening our brand new soccer-specific stadium this Saturday, March 25, against Toronto FC II. This is a moment that we and many soccer fans in the Valley have been anticipating for years and we're already very close to a sell out. We cannot wait to host all of you in our new home!
Sincerely,
Berke Bakay
Club Governor
Phoenix Rising FC"
