PHOENIX (June 19, 2018) — Phoenix Rising forward Jason Johnson was named the USL Player of the Week for Week 14 of the 2018 USL season. Johnson scored three goals in two wins against Las Vegas and Tulsa, including a scissor kick goal that was No. 2 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 and featured on ESPN FC during its World Cup coverage.
This is the second time Johnson has been recognized by the league. He was named to the team of the week for Week 8. Johnson joins Chris Cortez (Week 2) as Rising players named Player of the Week by the league this season.
Phoenix Rising heads back on the road this week with a showdown against Rio Grande Valley FC this Saturday. The match will kickoff at 5:30 p.m. and fans can head to one of two official watch parties held by the club.
The two locations will be at RT O’Sullivans (6646 E. Superstition Springs Blvd. | Mesa) and Puro Cigar Bar (111 W. Boston St. | Chandler).
The club returns home on Friday, June 29th at 7:30 p.m., to finish its season series with Orange County Soccer Club. The match will mark the clubs second blackout night of the season with black t-shirts provided to the first 3,000 fans by Valley Metro. The match will also feature $1 Beer Night courtesy of Bud Light. Tickets are currently available and fans can purchase them online at www.phxrisingfc.com or by heading to the club’s box office at the stadium (751 N. McCormick Dr., Scottsdale). Box office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to Noon and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
