TUCSON, Ariz. (February 23, 2019) — Phoenix Rising FC ended its 2019 Mobile Mini Sun Cup with a 2-0 loss to fellow USL Championship side OKC Energy FC in Tucson, Ariz.
Rising FC fell behind early when OKC’s Deshorn Brown found the back of the net to make it 1-0 in the 11th minute. Brown then had the assist on his club’s second goal, from teammate Omar Gordon, in the 26th minute to make it 2-0.
Energy FC were held scoreless the rest of the match, thanks in part to 17-year old goalkeeper Brandon Keniston, who played the entire second half and made two huge one-on-one saves to keep the club in the match.
The 2019 regular season begins on Saturday, March 9, when Phoenix Rising travels to San Antonio for it season-opening match.
