(PHOENIX) July 14, 2018 – Phoenix Rising FC fell to Fresno FC, 4-0, in its first match back from a 15-day layoff.
Fresno drew first blood in the 25th minute of the match after Christian Chaney smacked a header off a corner kick to make it 1-0. Then before the end of the half, Phoenix Rising midfielder Kevon Lambert received a straight red card for a hard challenge near the midfield.
With a man advantage, the Foxes grew their lead throughout the second half. Pedro Ribiero made it 2-0 with a shot from the top of the box. Juan Caffa extended the lead to 3-0 thanks to a free kick. And Jamal Johnson curled in a shot from the middle of the penalty area and into the left side netting to complete Fresno’s 4-0 win.
Phoenix Rising returns home on Friday for its next league match against Seattle Sounders 2. It’s $1 beer night presented by Bud Light and the first 3,000 fans will receive a blackout t-shirt courtesy of Arizona Federal.
