(PHOENIX) July 9, 2018 – Today the United Soccer League (USL) announced that head coach Rick Schantz was named the USL coach of the month for June.
“This is an honor that is shared with my entire staff and players,” Schantz said. “While I’m humbled by the distinction, I know that it takes many people to achieve the success PRFC has this past month. I asked that PRFC become a family and support one another - that’s what happened.”
Schantz officially took over for departing head coach Patrice Carteron on June 11, just two days prior to Phoenix Rising’s next match. Since Schantz took over the club, Phoenix Rising has gone 3-0-1 and has outscored their opponents 8-0.
Phoenix Rising returns to action this Saturday on the road in a showdown with Fresno Football Club. Fans can watch the match at one of two official watch parties being hosted in the Valley. One will be at the Thirsty Lion in Tempe Marketplace. The other will be hosted at Salt Tacos & Tequila in Westagte. The match kicks off at 7:00 p.m.
