All-League Selection Billy Forbes Joins Phoenix Rising

Midfielder scored ten goals, tallied nine assists

PHOENIX (December 14, 2017) — Phoenix Rising FC announced today it has signed midfielder Billy Forbes for the 2018 season. Forbes completed a breakout year with San Antonio FC in 2017, leading the club in goals with ten and in assists with nine.

“I can’t wait to get to Phoenix to learn under the technical staff and play alongside Didier Drogba and the rest of my teammates," Forbes said. "I look forward to playing in front of the fans of Phoenix and bringing a trophy to the desert."

Forbes had a long history with San Antonio, playing with the now-defunct San Antonio Scorpions of the NASL from 2014-2015. In that time period he scored nine goals and led the club with 15 assists in 49 matches. He helped the team win the NASL Championship in 2014. In 2016, Forbes played with NASL side Rayo OKC, where he also led the team in assists with four and scored three goals in 29 appearances. Forbes was named the first-ever USL Player of the Month for the month of April. In that time he scored six goals and provided three assists. In addition, Forbes was named the USL All-League Second Team following the 2017 season.
