PHOENIX, Ariz. (Monday, July 27) - The USL Championship announced today the game between New Mexico United and Phoenix Rising FC, scheduled for Saturday, August 8, will now be played at Phoenix Rising’s Casino Arizona Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MST.
The contest between the two Southwestern rivals was originally set to be held at University of New Mexico Soccer Complex in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The match has been rescheduled due to the fluid nature of COVID-19 restrictions across the country. Prior to the resumption of the 2020 season, the USL Championship provided provisions in the competition structure to allow for teams to play an unbalanced schedule, as necessary, in order to stay in compliance with public health guidelines in their respective markets.
Adhering to the guidelines from local officials and for the safety of the community, Phoenix Rising will not host fans at Casino Arizona Field for matches scheduled on August 1, August 8 or August 15. The club will continue to monitor the COVID-19 restrictions set in place by local officials. Phoenix Rising hopes to host fans at Casino Arizona Field this season, once it is deemed safe to do so by local health officials.
