PHOENIX (February 19th, 2020) — Phoenix Rising FC came back from a one-goal deficit to beat Major League Soccer side Sporting KC, 2-1, at Casino Arizona Field. Forwards Santi Moar and Joey Calistri scored both goals in the club’s second win over an MLS squad in preseason.

Rising FC fell behind 1-0 thanks to a goal from Sporting KC’s Johnny Russel in the 56th minute. But the lead didn’t last very long.

In the 66th minute, Calistri picked up the ball off a midfield turnover and then sent a piercing ball through the defense to a streaking Moar. After one touch with his left foot, Moar curled a chip shot over the goalkeeper with his right foot and snuck the ball inside the upper right corner to equalize the match.

Calistri took advantage of another turnover in the 78th minute, but this time scored a goal for himself. After the Sporting KC goalkeeper attempted a pass from the back to one of his defenders, Calistri jumped in, intercepted the pass and took the ball into the box before slipping it past the oncoming goalkeeper and inside the far-right post for a goal and a 2-1 win.

Phoenix Rising finishes the Visit Tucson Sun Cup this Saturday with a matchup against Real Salt Lake at Casino Arizona Field. The match kicks off at 7 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m. Fans can buy tickets by heading to
