PHOENIX (September 11th, 2019) — Today head coach Rick Schantz was named the USL Championship Coach of the Month for the month of August by the league. It’s the second time Schantz has received the honor in 2019 and the third time he’s received the honor in his career.
“After such a challenging month of six games I can only say thank you to the staff and players,” Schantz said. “This award continues to be representative of more than just one person. I am blessed to work with such tremendous people who expect the best from me every day and in return, they give their best to the club.”
In August, Schantz led the team to a perfect 6-0-0 record. The team outscored opponents 18-8 and extended its historic winning streak to 17 matches in that stretch. The club also clinched a playoff spot with nine matches remaining, a USL Championship record.
Schantz and Phoenix Rising will return to league play tonight, on the road against Las Vegas Lights FC. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. Fans can tune in on Your PHX CW on channels 6 & 61.1. The match will also be streamed live on ArizonaSports.com and ESPN3.
Fans can also watch the match at one of two official watch party locations: Social Hall in Tempe and Brass Tap in Downtown Gilbert.
