Phoenix Rising FC is back home for its second $1 Beer Night of the season as the club squares off against Tulsa Roughnecks FC. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a free black and copper t-shirt courtesy of Arizona Federal.
Rising FC had the week off last week, but the club comes into Friday with a three-match winning streak. The club’s last win came on the road at Real Monarchs. After falling behind 2-0 within the first half hour of the match, Rising FC came back to score four unanswered goals from four different players (Adam Jahn, Jon Bakero, Junior Flemmings, and Solomon Asante) to take three points from the Monarchs. It was the club’s first win at Real Monarchs since 2016.
During the club’s three-match winning streak, the team has outscored opponents 11-3.
The Roughnecks come to Casino Arizona Field off a tough 3-2 loss at home to Austin Bold FC. Despite having a 2-1 lead soon after halftime, the club gave up goals in the 61st minute and in stoppage time to lose the match.
Tulsa is 0-1-4 in its last five matches.
A Little Bit About Tulsa Roughnecks FC
A Little Bit About Phoenix Rising
Welcome back to $1 Beer Night
The first $1 Beer Night in club history was on October 4, 2017, a 4-3 win over Tulsa Roughnecks FC. In that match, the two teams scored six of the match’s seven goals within the first thirty minutes. Forward Jason Johnson scored the game-winner in the 66th minute, his second goal of the evening. Joey Calistri started for Tulsa in that match and had the assist on all three of his team’s goals.
$1 Beer Goals, Goals, Goals
PHX’s single-match record for goals at home is four and has been done 11 times in the history of Casino Arizona Field. Five of those instances came on $1 Beer Night. Over ten matches, the club has scored 29 goals.
The Unbeaten Legend Grows
Rising FC has already had one $1 Beer Night in 2019 and following the 3-1 win over Rio Grande Valley, the club is 10-0-0 on $1 Beer Night. The stat was enough to grab the attention of national media like Pardon My Take and was even given its own Twitter Moments.
Asante to Flemmings to Asante
Solomon Asante and Junior Flemmings both lead the club in assists (5) and they have each other to thank! Asante has assisted on two of Flemmings goals and Flemmings has assisted on two of Asante’s goals.
National Team Call Ups
Midfielder Kevon Lambert and forward Junior Flemmings were called up by the Jamaican National Team for the Gold Cup. Their last call up came earlier this year, on March 18, when the national team had a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier and an international friendly during a FIFA International window.
Just off the point pace
Through the first 12 matches of the season, Phoenix Rising has 20 points. That’s just one point off the club’s record-setting point pace at the 12-match mark in 2018.
Goal scoring pace
Following back-to-back matches of four goals scored, Phoenix Rising now has 26 goals scored through the first 12 matches of the season. In 2018, the club scored 24 goals through 12 matches en route to setting the club record for goals in a season.
Iron Man Watch
Forward Junior Flemmings remains the only player on the roster who has appeared in every match this season (12). Defender A.J. Cochran remains the team’s minutes played leader with 979 minutes played. He’s followed by Kevon Lambert with 915 minutes played. Amadou Dia (900) rounds out the players who have logged at least 900 minutes this season.
