PHOENIX (June 6, 2017) Phoenix Rising FC ended its three-match road trip with a 3-2 loss to Oklahoma City Energy FC. Defender J.J. Greer and midfielder Eder Arreola scored their first goals of the season in the loss. The club will return home this Saturday, June 10, to take on Whitecaps FC 2. That match kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

Energy FC jumped out to a 1-0 lead by sneaking a goal in before the end of the first half. Wojciech Wojcik’s power header hit the back of the net during stoppage time of the first half.

Phoenix Rising wouldn’t be down for long. In the 47th minute, Eric Avila’s corner kick was deflected into the air by defender Kody Wakasa. Greer got on the end of the volley and hammered his header passed the goalkeeper to equalize 1-1.

But Oklahoma City responded with two more goals. In the 56th minute, Kyle Hyland hit a rocket into the far right corner of the net off a high volley to make it 2-1. In the 69th minute, Wojcik struck again, this time tapping in a rebound after an impressive save from goalkeeper Carl Woszcznski to make it 3-1.

Arreola brought the club back to within one in the 83rd minute. He got the ball out on the left side of the box, cut back to his right, and then fired a well-placed shot into the low right corner of the net to make it 3-2.

Phoenix Rising FC returns home to play at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex on Satruday, June 6, against Whitecaps FC 2. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. It will also be the debut for international soccer superstar Didier Drogba. Tickets are limited but still available by going to the club website at www.PHXRisingFC.com.
